Free carers weekly surf club

Ocean based wellbeing and support

SurfSmile’s Free Weekly Carers Club offers a welcoming space where unpaid carers can step away from the pressures of daily life, reconnect with themselves, and experience the healing power of the ocean. Through gentle surf therapy sessions, supportive community connection, and time outdoors, the club provides carers with a chance to relax, recharge, and focus on their own wellbeing.

Whether you are caring for a loved one full-time or balancing caring responsibilities alongside work and family life, SurfSmile is here for you. No surfing experience is needed — just a willingness to take a breath, try something new, and enjoy the uplifting benefits of the sea in a safe, supportive environment.

Our weekly sessions are completely free for unpaid carers and are designed to improve mental wellbeing, reduce stress, build confidence, and create meaningful social connections with others who understand the challenges of caring.

At SurfSmile, we believe carers deserve care too. Join us by the coast each week to discover community, calm, and confidence through surf therapy.

“I had the most amazing experience! The instructors were kind patient and so supportive. Even though I was out my comfort zone. Having this opportunity has been amazing and watching each and every one of us progressing was amazing to see. So a big Thank you to you guys”

What is surf therapy

Adult surf therapy is a guided wellbeing programme that combines ocean immersion, surfing, and therapeutic reflection. Unlike traditional therapy rooms, sessions take place in nature, allowing participants to experience the calming, restorative effects of water alongside structured emotional support.

Our programme integrates elements of:

  • Surf coaching
  • Mindfulness practices
  • Nervous system regulation
  • Cognitive behavioural techniques
  • Breathwork
  • Supportive group connection

This combination helps participants build resilience, emotional awareness, and confidence while experiencing the physical and psychological benefits of being in the sea.
